This view of the Chimanimani foothills is built mostly from memory — the hills as I knew them on foot, hiking up here as a teenager — filled in with photographs of the area. I knew this range from the ground long before I ever saw it from a cockpit. As a teenager, and in my early twenties, I walked this area, developing a love and awe for these mountains. They have an allure and magic that draw me back.
