A dhow on the beach at Vilanculos, painted from memory rather than any one photograph — there have been too many dhows on that beach over the years to trace this scene back to a single image. The cloud pattern above is one I've seen often in this part of Mozambique; it's as much a part of the memory as the dhow itself.
I holidayed in this area from early childhood, and this scene was typical of what I saw there — it still brings back the happy times I spent on that beach.
